So you open your transcript, go to print preview and you will see your coding stripes displayed on every second page.

You have a printer that can print “2 up”.

If you have very densely coded transcripts then you can’t print the stripes beside the text because in print preview in NVivo, you will have a page of text followed by two pages of coding stripes making it impossible to display as demonstrated in our image.

You can fit the coding stripes you wish to display on a single page.

One should not need training to get such basic information out of NVivo. I really hope this proves to be the case because we spend a lot of time addressing this issue in the training workshops when really it’s a software design issue. We are promised a report to make this possible and EASY with the release of NVivo 10 scheduled for June, 2012.

Printing coding stripes from NVivo 7, 8, 9 or 10 has long since been a source of complaint from users of this website.
